Several months ago in October and Novemberย of 2011 the 111th Congress along with the U.S. Dept. of Energy proposed and approved legislature concerning residential HVAC appliances, including furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioning units.ย  Theย billย sets a new standardย forย manyย Statesย including Texas,ย which states

โ€ย the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER)ย of central air conditioners and central air conditioning heat pumps manufactured on or after January 1, 2015,ย  and installed in States having historical average annual, population weighted, heating degree days less than 5,000 (specifically the States of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia) or in the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or any other territory or possession of the United States shall not be less than the following:

(I) Split Systems: 14 for central air conditioners and 14 for heat pumps

(II) Single Package Systems: 14

This move is part of a growing โ€œgreenโ€, energy-saving national trend.ย ย The amazing technological advancesย in theย HVAC industryย and many others provide endless possibilities for homeowners and consumers toย save on monthly energyย bills and help conserve the environment at the same time.ย  And here in Dallas where theย air conditioning season can last upwards of 8 monthsย and our a/c systems run sometimes 18-20ย hours a day, this is a very important movement.ย  But theย newย SEER standard and subsequent Bill are bittersweet, becauseย minor repairs, old parts and 10, 12, andย 13 SEER equipment are goingย to be phased out and unavailable, leaving system replacement the only viable option.ย Great for the environment, but not so great on consumerโ€™s initial investment.ย  And thatโ€™s where Classic Heating and Air steps in along with American Standard in offering ourย SPRING SUPER SAVER!!
